Delegation from Caçapava on a visit to Vicenza. “Business opportunities for small and medium-sized firms based in Brazil”
Brazilian businessmen and politicians from the municipality of Caçapava, in the State of San Paolo, have come to Vicenza to meet the local authorities and get to know the local economy. The Brazilian delegation was welcomed by Renato Munaretto of Confindustria and Regional Councillor Marino Finozzi.
Mr Carlos Antonio Vilela, Caçapava Mayor, presented his municipality's economic development plan, which aims to set up opportunities for Italian businesses, especially for firms in the Veneto region. On that occasion, Vicenza's firms were given a guidebook to Brazil and its legal and economic issues, published by Confindustria Vicenza together with Banca Popolare di Vicenza.
“The key role Brazil is now playing can be seen by everybody – says Munaretto -. Their economy is constantly growing at rates higher than 5%. The great demand for goods and services may sometimes make it difficult for domestic companies to suitably meet the consumer's needs. That is why even Brazil has to develop international cooperation. In this area our firms may rely on the support given by over 20 million people whose families originally left Italy and emigrated to Brazil”.
Doing business in Brazil is not very easy now for an Italian small or medium-sized firm. There are still issues to do with customs duties and an ever-demanding market.
“These issues can be more easily be dealt with if our companies are based in Brazil – says Munaretto. That is why many of our member companies are interested in investing in manufacturing and trading in Brazil”.
