The Services Centre of Vicenza mechatronics companies, which is located a few kilometres away from Bratislava, opened last Monday, October 29, with a ceremony joined by a large delegation of Confindustria Vicenza, led by its president Massimo Calearo Ciman, also delegate from Confindustria for relations with Slovakia; the Minister of Economic Development Pierluigi Bersani; the managing director of Unicredit Alessandro Profumo and the top-ranking Slovakian authorities.; This year the Young Entrepreneurs' Group within Confindustria Vicenza has chosen India as the destination for their study tour. ; Following the case of toys which, once launched on the European markets, were found not to be up to safety standards, and another one in New Zealand, where formaldehyde was found on items of clothing made in China, there is a growing concern again about quality control and safety concerning products which enter our country and are purchased by consumers. These issues mainly concern the fashion and clothing industries, which more than the others are affected by the launch of products having low-quality standard and “unknown” origin.; Good news for Vicenza's industries at the turn of the first half of the year. The first six months of 2007 ended with a remarkable success scored by the province's industries, as shown by the figures in the second term's survey carried out by Confindustria Vicenza.
After the good results achieved in the first three months, the April-June term further reveals the recovery of Vicenza's economy begun early in 2006. The companies' figures show a positive trend both in their production and sales. In the second term, nearly half of the companies, i.e. 48%, boasted an increase in production, while 21% of them reported a decrease.; A thousand entrepreneurs participated in the general meeting of the Industrialists’ Association on Thursday, 28 June, at the Congress Centre of the Vicenza Trade Fair, which was dedicated this year to the theme of “Medium large: the new, great strength of the Northeast”.; Massimo Calearo, President of Vicenza's Confindustria (the Italian Manufacturers' Union), has signed a collaboration agreement at Palazzo Bonin Longare between the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany on a visit to Vicenza through a delegation of German industrialists and entrepreneurs.
“The goal is to sign a cooperation agreement with German delegates here in Vicenza, for which we have great expectations - said Calearo -, but we also aim to see whether it may be possible to set up industrial and trading cooperation, starting from the most interesting sectors such as foodstuffs rather than precision mechanical sub-supplies”.; Over ten million people and the second pro-capita GDP in Brazil, an annual 10% growth rate, more than double the whole country's rate: these are the most significant figures of Rio Grande Do Sul, which owes its economic success also and, above all, to Italian immigrants, especially those from the Veneto, migrating there 135 years ago.
On this important anniversary, Amesne, an association which gathers 34 leading municipalities from the Rio Grande, as well as the capital Porto Alegre, has promoted a mission to Vicenza to further understand the area in which the major economic activities of the Rio Grande originated.; Firms are now seeking personnel with technical, organisational and business skills, as well as with the ability to communicate thoroughly and successfully. Neither a high school diploma or a Bachelor's degree or even a Master's degree can help find out the right employee. In other words, firms are actually looking for transversal skills, that is personnel who are skilled, reliable, committed and clever. This is the outcome of the
Association's annual survey done on the employment needs required by Vicenza's firms.; State reforms, infrastructures, research and innovation, the fiscal system, fiscal federalism and energy. Such are the six priorities that Confindustria [the Italian national Industrialists’ Association] indicated for the government at the Parma convention of April 9th and 10th. Six priorities to relaunch the country, which has been standing at the starting line for too long and has been held back in its ability to compete by several obstacles that have to be removed as soon as possible.; In an interview published in the “Corriere della Sera” on March 3, Roberto Zuccato, President of Vicenza Manufacturers' Association, talks about the current state of the economy, following recent suicide cases of businessmen who had not managed to overcome their own companies' economic difficulties.
Here is the interview.; “Our firms are in the same situation as someone who has just got over a bad flu and wants to go out, but he knows he has to do that very carefully. The indicators of the current trend show a slight pickup but it is still a very small improvement. The outlooks for the autumn season can hardly be envisaged and how long the recession will last is hard to foresee. The time when the economy will pick up is now being put off. I think that the current situation may last until next spring. At least six months of uncertainties are likely to persist before these weak signs of recovery may affect the real economy”.; A comprehensive scheme to foster Italy’s technical education has been set up by the 15-member Club, i.e. a network made up of the employers’ associations from the cities where the local GDP has the highest number of manufacturing industries; For many years Mario Deaglio has been one of the most authoritative and reliable economists in Italy. He teaches International Economics at Turin University and has lately been invited by Confindustria Vicenza to a conference on the future scenarios and prospects for Italy and the rest of the world.; Here is the Italian version of the full text of the speech made by President Emma Marcegaglia at Confindustria General Meeting held in Rome on Thursday 21st May.; As well as his report, the Association's President Roberto Zuccato also held round-table talks about the issues concerning the strategies aimed to overcome the current crisis.

; Companies and workers of the Vicenza area have begun mobilizing support for the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo. Confindustria Vicenza and the provincial trade unions Cgil, Cisl and Uil have voiced their complete support of the agreement recently endorsed at a national level by Confindustria and Trade Unions to promote the collection of funds from companies and workers to assist the earthquake victims.
; The research on the economic trend performed by the Association on the fourth quarter of 2008 shows that the phase of stagnation that characterised the central part of the year continued during the final months of the year as well, since all of the most important economic indicators worsened.; 2008 ended with a growth of Vicenza's exports. The international financial crisis and the uncertain economic scenario are to be found within a generally positive trend for Vicenza's and Italy's foreign trade. The current year is portraying a more complex scenario, but with very interesting opportunities for Vicenza's enterprises. Here is an interview with Roberto Ditri, Vice-President of Confindustria Vicenza and deputy for international affairs.; "We know that a tough year looms ahead, and we are also aware that we need to act with decisiveness. We can beat the crisis. We’ve done it before, and we can do it again."
The President of the Association, Roberto Zuccato’s comments on the prospects for Vicenza industry are realistic - he does not non pass over the current problems assailing the industry, but he still manages to launch a message of confidence and dynamism for 2009.; What is the current state of affairs of manufacturing enterprises? What are the strong points of those enterprises that have embarked on solid growth paths? What are the typical entrepreneurial qualities of the successful enterprises? Which are the organizational and marketing choices adopted by enterprises that have undertaken the road to development?; China is not the only country in the Asian continent! And India and China together do not represent even half of all the economic potential and opportunities of this vast and many-faceted continent.
Other countries and other markets are becoming increasingly more important for Italian enterprises, and consequently also for Vicenza enterprises. There are Thailand and Vietnam, for example, two new “Asian tigers” in the centre of one of the most dynamic areas of the global economy.
And it exactly for this reason that Confindustria Vicenza organised an economic mission to these two particular countries. The delegation was headed by the President, Roberto Zuccato, and included Roberto Ditri, the Vice President for Internationalization, Luigi Benedetti, the President of Piccola Industria, and Director Lorenzo Maggio.; In July-September the industrial production of Vicenza dropped by 1.2%, above all due to a new sales decline on the domestic market. A positive note comes from export which is experiencing growth both in Europe and non-EU countries.; Confindustria Vicenza has lately carried out a survey among its member companies to examine the outcome of the current global financial crisis on the manufacturing industries. About a thousand companies took part in the survey, which means that this is a hot issue at present. The results of the survey were presented by Roberto Zuccato, the Association's President, and by Luciano Vescovi, Vice-President and deputy for finance.; Roberto Zuccato, the Association's president, has sent all the member companies a letter about the crisis of the financial markets and its effects on the world economies. Here is the text of the letter.; If a company needs to hire executives, researchers or directors coming from non-EU countries, it has to be extremely patient and make use of its spirit of endurance. This is the message conveyed by the Italian bureaucracy to companies which require their managers to travel worldwide if the latter don’t come from a country of the European Union.; This year's theme at the general meeting of Confindustria Vicenza was: “Vicenza – the Future Enterprise: the new frontiers of manufacturing industries in a changing world”.
Here enclosed is the speech made by Roberto Zuccato, President of Confindustria Vicenza, as well as a review of the reports on the meeting in the local TV news.; The Association's general meeting will be held at the civic theatre in Vicenza on Wednesday, June 25th. Both vice-presidents and treasurer were appointed by the Association's council, upon the President's proposal, as well as given assignments to specific functions.; More governability, less political fracture, fewer instances of anti-market policies: these are the chief novelties resulting from the latest elections, according to Roberto Zuccato, President of Confindustria Vicenza.; Governability, reforms, liberalization and privatization; public spending improvement; tax reduction; labour, agreements, salaries and wages, productivity; easing out bureaucracy; energy and the environment; infrastructures; education and universities; research and innovation; the Mezzogiorno: these are the priorities set out by Confindustria in a document drawn up to show the key areas to be fostered and the actions to be taken quite urgently, in order to implement a different course of action for the development of Italy.; Within the scope of our guides dedicated to many of our member exporters, we have decided to provide an in-depth report on guarantees, an issue of prime importance considering the great amount of EU laws brought in over the past few years. The seller is obliged to provide a warranty which applies both to transactions made with his own customers and to any customer acting in the course of a business with him. Warranties may be a burden for our member companies, especially in terms of cost, as they are urged to further guarantee for the quality and the safety of their products, as well as to implement a series of cautious procedures which may affect sales transactions and product presentation.; Confindustria Vicenza has signed an agreement for co-operation with Finest Spa – a financial company fostering the economic co-operation with countries from the East of Europe. The agreement – which provides all member companies with new solutions and means to finance exports – was signed by Massimo Calearo Ciman, Chairman of Confindustria Vicenza, and Michele Degrassi, Chairman of Finest.; More than 250 entrepreneurs from the Veneto gathered at the brand-new, shining theatre hall of “Queen Victoria” cruise ship to join the meeting held by the regional district of mechatronics and innovative mechanical technologies. This unique setting was
arranged by Roberto Ditri, the district's representative, who wanted to present the projects currently underway and the policies aimed at the future of the district, which has significantly grown in the past few years and now consists of 370 companies with a total of over 30,000 employees.; From thirty years it values the best studies realized from the graduands of Vicenza (but not only them) about topics attached to the economic and productive development of our province.
